The Habanera

The Habanera (“L’amour est un oiseau rebelle”) is the famous aria from Georges Bizet’s opera Carmen. It is sung by the title character, a Gypsy girl named Carmen, in act 1, scene 5, and is perhaps the most popular piece from the opera.

The Seguidilla

When Carmen and Don José meet in Lillas Pastia’s tavern, they sing a duet called the “Seguidilla”. In it, Carmen playfully mocks Don José, who is entranced by her.

The Toreador Song

The “Toreador Song” is the popular name for the aria “Votre toast, je peux vous le rendre” from Georges Bizet’s 1875 opera Carmen. It is sung by the bullfighter Escamillo in Act II, Scene 5, as he enters Carmencita’s dressing room and flirts with her.

The aria is considered one of the most popular and recognizable in all of opera. It has been featured in many films and television shows over the years, often used as a representation of Spain or Spanish culture.
