Our History
Concordia Publishing House (CPH) is the publishing arm of The Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS). Our mission is to train pastors, teachers, and missionaries through books and resources that are faithful to Scripture and the Lutheran confessions.
CPH was founded in 1839 by C.F.W. Walther, W.A. Passavant, and some other pioneering Lutherans who recognized the need for Lutherans in North America to have their own American-based publishing house that would print materials in the English language.
