It’s that time of year again! The wait is finally over and the Country Music Awards winners list for 2022 has been released. See who took home the top prize in each category.

Entertainer of the Year

The Country Music Association Awards is an annual event that recognizes and rewards excellence in the field of country music. In addition to handing out awards in various categories, the CMA also gives out the prestigious Entertainer of the Year award to the artist who has made the biggest impact on the genre over the course of the year.

This award is given to an artist who exemplifies excellence in all aspects of their career, from their musical achievements to their contributions to the country music industry as a whole. This award is not simply about sales or chart success; it is about overall impact and influence.

Vocal Duo of the Year

The Vocal Duo of the Year award goes to the country music duo with the best vocals in a given year. The Grammy Awards started giving out this award in 1968, and since then, there have been many different winners. Some of the most famous winners include The Judds, Brooks & Dunn, and Sugarland. In recent years, Florida Georgia Line has won this award multiple times. For a full list of past winners, see below.

1968 – The Country Music Association begins giving out the Vocal Duo of the Year award

1970 – The first ever Vocal Duo of the Year award goes to Bill Anderson and Jan Howard

1971 – The second Vocal Duo of the Year award goes to Sonny James and Dottie West

1973 – Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty win the Vocal Duo of the Year award

1974 – Anne Murray and David Frizzell win the Vocal Duo of the Year award

1975- The fifth Vocal Duo of the year goes to Johnnie & Jack

1976- The sixth vocal duo goes to Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty

1977- Seventh vocal duo is Emmylou Harris & Gram Parsons

1978- Eighth vocal duo is Willie Nelson & Waylon Jennings

1979- Ninth vocal duo is Crystal Gayle & Gary Morris

1980s- various artists win the vocal duo including: Oak Ridge Boys, Alabama, Ricky Skaggs & Keith Whitley, George Strait & Lee Ann Womack

1990s- various artists win including: Brooks & Dunn, The Judds, Tim McGraw & Faith Hill

2000s- various artists win including: Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Zac Brown Band

Vocal Group of the Year

The Vocal Group of the Year award is given to the artist with the best vocal performance by a group. This award goes to the artist or group, not the songwriter or producer. To be eligible, a group must have at least three members and must have released at least one single or album during the eligibility period.

The eligibility period for the 2022 Country Music Awards is December 1, 2020, to November 30, 2021.

The song of the year is one of the top awards given out at the Country Music Awards. This award goes to the songwriters of the winning song. The song of the year for 2021 was “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw.

The “Music Video of the Year” award is presented to the artist and the video producer of the best music video.

Musical Event of the Year

The Country Music Awards Winners List for 2022 has been released and the event of the year has been awarded to the 52nd Annual Country Music Awards Show. The show was held on November 8, 2022 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee and was hosted by Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley. This is the first time in the history of the awards that two hosts have shared hosting duties.

The show featured performances by some of country music’s biggest stars, including Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn, Carrie Underwood, Eric Church, Florida Georgia Line, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, and many more.

In addition to Musical Event of the Year, other awards given out during the show included Entertainer of the Year (which went to Garth Brooks), Album of the Year (which went to Miranda Lambert for “Weightless”), Single of the Year (which went to Carrie Underwood for “Something in the Water”), Song of the Year (which went to Eric Church for “Give Me Back My Hometown”), and many more.
