Introduction

Director Davy Force and cinematographer Ryan Turner used period-appropriate techniques to make this innovative, stylish music video for the band So So Glos. The team shot on Super 8 film and incorporated archival footage to create a vintage look and feel.

The Band

The Band is a Canadian-American rock group formed in Toronto, Ontario, in 1967. The Band’s original lineup consisted of Rick Danko (bass guitar, double bass, fiddle, vocals), Levon Helm (drums, mandolin, guitar, vocals), Garth Hudson (keyboards, trumpet), Richard Manuel (keyboards, drums, vocals) and Robbie Robertson (guitar, vocals). The members of the Band first played together as backing musicians for Canadian-American rockabilly singer Ronnie Hawkins and his Hawks from 1958 to 1963. They then charted their own hit singles as a group beginning with 1968’s “The Weight”. The Band toured and recorded together until 1976 when they separated and each member pursued a solo career.

The Band reformed in 1983 without Robertson who had pursued a successful career as a Hollywood music producer after leaving the group. Manuel killed himself in 1986. Danko died in 1999 due to complications from heart surgery. The surviving members Helm and Hudson continued to tour throughout the 2000s performing many of the band’s original songs along with new material.
