It’s been a big year for dance and electronic music, with a variety of artists exploring different sounds and styles. From the return of veteran artists like The Chemical Brothers and LCD Soundsystem to the rise of newer stars like Flume and Mura Masa, there’s been a lot to choose from. Here are our picks for the best dance and electronic albums of 2017.

LCD Soundsystem – American Dream

LCD Soundsystem’s American Dream is the best overall dance/electronic album of 2017. The album features a mix of traditional rock instrumentation with modern electronic production, resulting in a unique and fresh sound that is both danceable and experimental. LCD Soundsystem is one of the most innovative and boundary-pushing groups in the genre, and American Dream is a testament to their creative genius.

Odesza – A Moment Apart

Since forming in 2012, Odesza has steadily built a name for themselves as one of the most dynamic and innovative duos in dance music. With their third studio album, A Moment Apart, they have finally reached the top of the dance/electronic charts.

A Moment Apart is an ambitious and emotionally charged album that finds Odesza exploring new soundscapes while still staying true to their roots. The first single, “Line of Sight,” is a Infectious synth-pop track that recalls the early days of the duo’s career. Other standout tracks include “Late Night,” a atmospheric slow-burner that features guest vocals from Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead, and “Across The Room,” a sweeping electro-pop ballad that features guest vocals from indie darling Tegan and Sara.

Gorillaz – Humanz

It’s been quite a year for dance and electronic music. We’ve seen the return of some veteran artists and the rise of some new ones. A lot of great music has been released this year, but there can only be one best. The best dance/electronic EP of 2017 is….

Alison Wonderland – Awake

Alison Wonderland’s much-anticipated debut album, Awake, is an intoxicating mix of dance music styles that showcase the Australian producer’s impressive range. From the hard-hitting trap of “Easy” to the electro-house banger “No,” Wonderland demonstrates her mastery of multiple genres on this stellar release. The title track is a gorgeous downtempo number that recalls the work of fellow Aussie Flume, while “U Don’t Know” is a bass-heavy club track that will get even the most reluctant dancer moving. Whether she’s making you move or touching your heart, Alison Wonderland is one of the most exciting producers in dance music today.

Illenium – Ashes

Illenium’s sophomore album, Ashes, is a departure from the Denver-based artist’s debut. It’s a more personal record, one that chronicles a relationship’s demise through its titular metaphor. The result is an emotionally raw dancefloor album that is as cathartic as it is affecting.

Lead single “Fractures” featuring Nevve is a haunting ballad that sets the tone for the rest of the album. It’s a delicate, beautiful track that showcases Illenium’s production chops and Nevve’s ethereal vocal performance. “Feel Good” featuring Gryffin is another standout, a gorgeous slice of progressive house that will no doubt be heard in clubs and festivals around the world.

The rest of Ashes is just as strong, with every track bringing something unique to the table. Illenium has created a dance album for the ages, one that will be remembered long after 2017 is over.

Seven Lions & Jason Ross – Higher Love

Jason Ross and Seven Lions have teamed up for a new EP, Higher Love, which is out now. The four-track project features some of the biggest names in dance music, including Above & Beyond, Illenium, and Jason Ross himself.

For those who are unfamiliar with Seven Lions, he is a American dubstep producer who has been making waves in the dance music scene for the past few years. Jason Ross, on the other hand, is a classically trained pianist who has been involved in the trance and progressive house scene for many years. Together, they make an unstoppable team.

Higher Love is a beautiful EP that will take you on an emotional journey. From the first track, “As Above So Below”, to the last track, “Higher Love”, you will be hooked. The production value on this EP is top notch and the melodies are absolutely gorgeous. This is definitely one of the best dance/electronic releases of 2017.

Best Dance/Electronic Single

This was a great year for dance and electronic music. We saw a lot of new artists emerge and make a name for themselves. There were also some great comebacks from some of our favorite artists. In this post, we’ll be taking a look at the best dance and electronic music of 2017.

CamelPhat & Elderbrook – Cola

This is a Dance/Electronic song by CamelPhat & Elderbrook. It was released in October of 2017 and is one of the best songs of the year.

Calvin Harris ft. Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean – Feels

This song is the epitome of summertime fun. It’s got a great beat, infectious melody, and features three of the biggest pop stars in the world. “Feels” is the kind of song that you can’t help but sing along to, no matter where you are or what you’re doing. It’s the perfect track to get your party started, and it’s sure to get everyone on the dance floor.

Porter Robinson & Madeon – Shelter

Porter Robinson and Madeon’s Shelter is the best dance/electronic single of 2017. The song is an electronic powerhouse, with both Robinson and Madeon’s vocals going perfectly with the song’s melody. The production is top-notch, and the song has a great energy that makes it impossible to not dance along.

Best Remix

The Chainsmokers – Paris (The Him Remix) is one of the best dance/electronic songs of 2017. It’s a remix of The Chainsmokers’ original song “Paris”, and it’s been remixed by The Him. The original song is good, but The Him’s remix is even better. It’s more upbeat and electronic, and it’s sure to get you moving.

Jai Wolf – Indian Summer (RAC Remix)

Jai Wolf’s “Indian Summer” was one of the best dance songs of 2017, and RAC’s remix is even better. It’s a perfect blend of the original’s tropical house vibes with a touch of RAC’s signature synth-pop sound. The result is a feel-good summer anthem that will have you dancing all night long.

Louis The Child – Right To It (feat. Ashe) [Big Wild Remix]

ODESZA – Line Of Sight (Manila Killa Remix)

The Chainsmokers are an American electronic music duo consisting of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart. The duo achieved a breakthrough with their 2014 song “#Selfie”, which was a top twenty single in several countries. They are currently signed to Columbia Records.

Illenium

2017 was a great year for dance and electronic music, with many new and exciting artists emerging onto the scene. One artist who truly stood out was Illenium. His emotionally charged tracks and amazing live performances made him one of the most talked-about artists of the year. If you’re looking for the best live act of 2017, look no further than Illenium.

ODESZA

ODESZA is an American electronic music duo from Bellingham, Washington. The group consists of Harrison Mills (aka “Catacombkid”) and Clayton Knight (aka “BeachesBeaches”). They met as students at Western Washington University. Their debut album, Summer’s Gone, was released in 2012 to much acclaim in the underground electronic music community. The album was followed by a world tour, during which the duo became known for their captivating live shows.

ODESZA’s sophomore album, In Return, was released in 2014 to even greater success. It charted on the Billboard 200 and featured the hits “Say My Name” and “All We Need”. The album won them a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2015 ceremony.

The duo’s third album, A Moment Apart, was released in 2017 to even more acclaim. It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and won them another Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album.
