What is Electronic Dance Music?

At its simplest, electronic dance music (EDM) is designed for dancing. It is made using electronic instruments and technology, and is often played in nightclubs, at festivals and on the radio.

EDM covers a wide range of styles, from the thumping basslines of dubstep and drum and bass to the more gentle sounds of house and trance.Within these genres there are subgenres and sub-subgenres, each with their own distinct sound.

Despite its reputation as being something of a niche genre, EDM has become increasingly popular in recent years, with some of the world’s biggest stars getting involved. In 2020, it is estimated that the EDM industry is worth $7.4 billion USD.

The Worst Electronic Dance Music of 2020

Electronic Dance Music, also known as EDM, has taken the world by storm in recent years. With its popularity continuing to grow, there is no shortage of new EDM tracks being released each year. 2020 was no different, with plenty of great new EDM tracks being released. However, there were also a fair share of terrible EDM tracks released this year. In this article, we’ll be counting down the worst EDM tracks of 2020.

Worst Overall

Here are the worst offenders in the genre, the songs that grated on our nerves and made us cringe. These are the worst electronic dance songs of 2020.

“In My Feelings” by Drake
This Drake song was everywhere this year, and for good reason: it’s terrible. The production is echoey and over-reverbed, the drop is uninspired, and Drake’s auto-tuned singing is painfully grating. This was one of the most popular songs of the year, but it’s also one of the worst.

“7 rings” by Ariana Grande
This Ariana Grande song is another one that was inescapable this year, and for good reason: it’s awful. The production is cheap-sounding and dated, Grande’s singing is auto-tuned to within an inch of its life, and the whole thing is just painfully unremarkable. This was one of the most popular songs of the year, but it’s also one of the worst.

“Old Town Road (Remix)” by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus
This remix of Lil Nas X’s viral hit was released earlier this year, and it quickly became one of the most despised songs of 2020. The main problem with it is Billy Ray Cyrus’ truly awful rap verse, which sounds like it was written by a 10-year-old. It’s cringeworthy, embarrassing, and just plain bad.

These are the worst electronic dance songs of 2020. If you loved any of these songs, we can only assume that you have terrible taste in music.
