The first electronic dance music song is often credited to German composer and producer, Klaus Schulze. His 1971 track, “I Feel Space,” is widely considered to be the first instance of electronic dance music. Schulze created the track using a Moog synthesizer, and its throbbing, pulsating sound was unlike anything that had been heard before. “I Feel Space” paved the way for the immense popularity of electronic dance music, and Schulze is considered one of its pioneers.
