Movement Detroit
Perhaps the most well-known EDM festival in Michigan, Movement Detroit takes place every Memorial Day weekend at Hart Plaza in Detroit. This year’s lineup includes some of the biggest names in the EDM world, such as Skrillex, Carl Cox, and Richie Hawtin. If you’re looking for a festival that offers a little bit of everything, then this is definitely the one for you.

Electric Forest
Held in Rothbury, Michigan from June 26-29, Electric Forest is quickly becoming one of the most popular electronic music festivals in the Midwest. This year’s lineup includes adventure club, lotus plaza (the solo project of deerhunter’s lockett pundt), and Jai Wolf. With four days of non-stop music and camping available on site, Electric Forest is definitely a festival that you won’t want to miss.

Lantern Fest
If you’re looking for something a little bit different, then you might want to check out Lantern Fest. This unique event takes place on August 2nd at Kensington Metropark in Brighton and features live music, food trucks, and…you guessed it…lots of lanterns! Attendees are encouraged to write messages on their lanterns before releasing them into the sky at dusk. It’s an unforgettable experience that you won’t want to miss.

Detroit Electronic Music Festival

The Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF) is an annual three-day music festival dedicated to electronic music held in downtown Detroit, Michigan, United States. The festival features performances by established and emerging electronic musicians, and is known for showcasing various musical styles including techno, house, experimental, drum and bass, dubstep, and hip hop.

DEMF was founded in 2000 by Paxahau Event Productions, a Detroit-based events and promotions company. The first edition of the festival was held on Memorial Day weekend in May 2000. Since its inception, the festival has been held every year except for 2003 (when it was cancelled due to the municipal strike in Detroit) and 2009 (when it was moved to Hart Plaza due to construction at Belle Isle).

In its early years, the festival was free and open to the public. However, since 2006, DEMF has been a ticketed event. A three-day pass for the 2014 edition of the festival costs $165 (US) in advance or $195 (US) at the door.

The Detroit Electronic Music Festival is organized around five main stages: Made in Detroit, Red Bull Music Academy Stage, Beatport Stage, Movement Stage, and Bass Camp. In addition to these main stages, there are also several smaller stages located throughout Hart Plaza.

In its 11th year, Movement takes over Detroit’s Hart Plaza Memorial Day weekend, attracting big-name DJs and ravers from around the globe. More than 100 performances will entertain attendees on five different stages, with past performers including Carl Craig, Richie Hawtin, and Loco Dice.
