Detroit Electronic Music Festival

The Detroit Electronic Music Festival (DEMF) is an annual three-day music festival dedicated to electronic music held in downtown Detroit, Michigan, United States. The festival features performances by established and emerging electronic musicians, and is known for showcasing various musical styles including techno, house, experimental, drum and bass, dubstep, and hip hop.

DEMF was founded in 2000 by Paxahau Event Productions, a Detroit-based events and promotions company. The first edition of the festival was held on Memorial Day weekend in May 2000. Since its inception, the festival has been held every year except for 2003 (when it was cancelled due to the municipal strike in Detroit) and 2009 (when it was moved to Hart Plaza due to construction at Belle Isle).

In its early years, the festival was free and open to the public. However, since 2006, DEMF has been a ticketed event. A three-day pass for the 2014 edition of the festival costs $165 (US) in advance or $195 (US) at the door.

The Detroit Electronic Music Festival is organized around five main stages: Made in Detroit, Red Bull Music Academy Stage, Beatport Stage, Movement Stage, and Bass Camp. In addition to these main stages, there are also several smaller stages located throughout Hart Plaza.
