Fantasia Barrino wowed the crowd at this year’s Soul Train Music Awards, held at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday night (November 25). The “American Idol” winner took home the night’s top honor, the Legends Award, and delivered an emotional speech thanking Aretha Franklin, among others.

“First of all, I would like to thank God for waking me up this morning, because if it were not for him, I would not be here today,” she said. “I also want to thank my beautiful daughter Zion for being my heart… Aretha Franklin, you have always been my queen and will always be my queen… Whitney Houston, you will always be my angel… To all the Legends that have gone on before me that made it possible for a girl like me from High Point, North Carolina to be standing here on this stage tonight … I love you all so much. God bless you.”

Fantasia also performed her new single “Lose to Win” during the show, which also featured appearances by Stevie Wonder, Usher, Miguel and many others.

The Awards Show

Fantasia performed at the Soul Train Music Awards on Sunday and she absolutely killed it! The performance was so good that the entire audience was on their feet, dancing and clapping along. It was clear that she put her heart and soul into the performance and it paid off.

The singer — who just released her third studio album, ‘Side Effects of You’ — was on hand to perform two tracks from the disc: the sultry first single, ‘Lose to Win,’ as well as the haunting ballad ‘Without Me.’
