Folk Roots magazine was started in 1979 by British fiddle player Dave Swarbrick with the intention of providing a forum for the discussion and promotion of traditional music from all over the world. In its early years, the magazine championed such artists as Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span, and Pentangle, and helped to start the careers of many young musicians who have gone on to achieve international acclaim. Today, Folk Roots is still going strong, with a focus on both traditional and contemporary folk music from Britain, Ireland, and North America.
