Based on the hit song by Huey Lewis and the News, this musical follows the trials and tribulations of a small town rock band as they fight to keep their band together and make their big break. Along the way, they learn that it takes more than just talent to make it in the music business – it takes heart. With catchy songs and energetic dance numbers, The Heart of Rock & Roll Musical is sure to get your toes tapping and your heart singing.

The Heart of Rock & Roll Musical – The History

The Heart of Rock & Roll Musical – The History is a musical based on the life and music of Huey Lewis and the News. The musical tells the story of the band’s rise to fame in the early 1980s, their fall from grace in the late 1980s, and their subsequent reunion and comeback in the early 2000s.

The musical features all of the band’s classic hits, including “The Power of Love,” “I Want a New Drug,” “Hip to Be Square,” and “The Heart of Rock & Roll.” It also includes several new songs written specifically for the production.

The musical premiered at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in Saint Paul, Minnesota in March of 2016. It has since been performed at theaters around the country, including the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, California; The Old Globe Theatre in San Diego; The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle, Washington; and Porthouse Theatre in Kent, Ohio.

The heart of Rock and Roll is a musical about the early days of rock and roll. The focus is on the music and how it affected the culture at the time. The Heart of Rock & Roll follows the lives of a group of teenage friends as they discover the new music and live through the excitement and turmoil of the times.

The Heart of Rock & Roll is set in the 1950s and 1960s, a time when rock and roll was just beginning to take off. The music is a mix of classic rock and roll tunes, original songs, and traditional pop songs that have been updated with a rock and roll twist. TheHeart of Rock and Rollisn’t just a concert; it’s a journey through the music that defined a generation.

The Heart of Rock & Roll Musical – The Performances

The Heart of Rock & Roll Musical is a brand new musical that will be premiering in Chicago this fall. The musical is based on the life and music of legendary rocker Jerry Lee Lewis. The show will feature some of Lewis’ most famous hits, including “Great Balls of Fire” and “Whole Lot of Shakin’ Going On.”

The musical will star Tony Award nominee Levi Kreis as Jerry Lee Lewis. Kreis is best known for his work on Broadway, where he has starred in shows like Million Dollar Quartet and Memphis. He has also appeared on television shows like Nashville and American Horror Story: Coven.

The Heart of Rock & Roll Musical will also feature Tony Award nominee Jarrod Spector as Jerry Lee’s agent, Phil Spector. Spector is best known for his work on Broadway, where he has starred in shows like Jersey Boys and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. He has also appeared on television shows like Smash and White Collar.

Rounding out the cast are Tony Award nominee Mara Davi as Jerry Lee’s wife, Myra Gale Brown; Jeff Kready as Sonny GPS, Jerry Lee’s bandleader; Nick Cordero as Jimmy Swaggart, Jerry Lee’s cousin and rival; and Drew Gehling as Sam Phillips, the founder of Sun Records.

The musical is being directed by Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, with a book by Academy Award nominee Daniel Abeles and music supervision by Grammy Award winner Chuck Mead. The creative team also includes choreographer Sergio Trujillo, set designer Robert Brill, costume designer Paul Tazewell, lighting designer Howell Binkley and sound designer Gareth Owen.

The Heart of Rock & Roll Musical will begin previews on September 20 at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago. The show will have its official opening night on October 17.
