The 1975

Hailing from Manchester, England, The 1975 is an indie pop-rock band that is quickly making a name for themselves in the music industry. The band’s debut album, entitled “The 1975,” was released in September of 2013 and has been received with critical acclaim. With catchy melodies and thought-provoking lyrics, The 1975 is a band that is sure to stick around for years to come.

The 1975’s sound

The 1975’s sound has been described as “indie pop, alternative rock, pop rock, and electronica”.[1] The band has been compared to several artists and groups, including Radiohead,[2][3][4] Arctic Monkeys,[5][6] One Direction,[7] and The Strokes.[8] The band’s debut album was ranked number one on NME’s ‘The 50 Greatest Debut Albums of All Time’ list in March 2013.[9]

The 1975’s popularity

The true story of how The 1975 found success is a bit more complicated – and much more fascinating – than the standard “overnight success” fairytale. In reality, it took the band nearly a decade to achieve the level of popularity they enjoy today.

Formed in 2002 by a group of friends who met at school in Manchester, England, The 1975 started out as an indie pop-rock band with a sound that was heavily influenced by acts like The Beach Boys and Arctic Monkeys. Over the next few years, they honed their craft and cultivated a loyal following among music fans in the UK.

In 2012, The 1975 released their self-titled debut album. The record was well-received by critics and helped the band gain wider notoriety. It wasn’t until their second album, “I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it”, was released in 2016 that The 1975 truly broke into the mainstream.

The album entered the Billboard 200 chart at No. 1 and spawned several hit singles, propelling the band to new levels of fame both in the UK and internationally. The group has since released a third album, “A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships”, which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.

The1975’s popularity has only continued to grow in recent years, thanks in part to their dedicated fanbase and tireless work ethic. With an ever-expanding global audience, there’s no telling how big The 1975 will get – but one thing is for sure: they’re not going anywhere anytime soon.
