Welcome to our guide to the best of indie rock and dance music. Here you’ll find a selection of the most popular and influential indie rock and dance tracks of the last decade. We’ve divided our guide into two sections, each with a different focus. In the first section, we’ll be looking at some of the best indie rock tracks of the last decade, while in the second section we’ll be focusing on some of the best dance tracks of the same period.

The Best of Indie Rock

For most of the people, indie music is the best way to stay updated with the latest and the greatest of what the music industry has to offer. It is not only because indie music is fresh and original, but also because it is devoid of the shallowness that is often found in the mainstream music.

The 1975

The 1975 are an English rock band from Manchester. The group consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Matthew Healy, bassist Ross MacDonald, keyboardist Adam Hann, and drummer George Daniel. The band’s origins trace back to Healy and Daniel’s childhood friendship and themselves playing together in various bands when they were teenagers.

The 1975’s eponymous debut album was released on 2 September 2013 through Dirty Hit and Polydor. It peaked at number one on the UK Albums Chart in September 2016 and was certified platinum in May 2017. The album features the singles “Chocolate”, “Sex”, ” Robbers “, ” Girls “,” Heart Out “,” Settle Down “, which all charted in the top 40 of the UK Singles Chart . Their second album, I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful yet So Unaware of It, was released on 26 February 2016 and debuted at number one in the UK and number five in the US. The lead single, ” Love Me “, peaked at number four on both the UK Singles Chart and US Billboard Hot 100 . Two other singles were released from the album: ” UGH! ” And” Somebody Else “. The band’s third album, A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships , was released on 30 November 2018 becoming their first UK number-one album. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.

The band has sold 20 million records worldwide as of March 2019. They have won a Brit Award—winning Best British Group—and received five Grammy Award nominations, winning Best Music Video for ” Love Me “.

The Strokes

The Strokes are an American rock band formed in New York City in 1998. The group is composed of vocalist Julian Casablancas, guitarist Nick Valensi, bassist Nikolai Fraiture, drummer Fabrizio Moretti, and keyboardist/rhythm guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr.. founding guitarist Ryan Gentles left the band in 2004.

The Strokes rose to prominence with their debut album Is This It (2001), which became a commercial and critical success upon its release. The record peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart and quickly became a commercial success in other countries; by 2002, it had been certified platinum or higher in eight countries. It received strong reviews from music critics; some named it one of the best albums of the decade. Is This It has been ranked highly on many publications’ year-end lists; NME named it the third best album of 2001, while Time magazine’s Josh Tyrangiel called it “the year’s best CD”. In September 2003, Rolling Stone included The Strokes as one of their “100 Greatest Artists of All Time”, and later listed Is This It as one of that magazine’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”. In 2012, NME placed The Strokes at number 18 on its list “500 Greatest Albums of All Time”.

Vampire Weekend

Vampire Weekend is an American rock band from New York City, formed in 2006. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Ezra Koenig, bassist and backing vocalist Chris Baio, drummer and percussionist Chris Tomson, and keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij. The band released its first album, Vampire Weekend, in 2008, which included the singles “A-Punk” and “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa”. The band’s second album, Contra, was released in 2010 and topped the charts in the US and UK. Its lead single “Cousins” charted on the US Billboard Hot 100.

The Best of Indie Dance Music

Indie rock and dance music has been on the rise in recent years, and there are some great artists out there making some amazing music. If you’re a fan of indie rock or dance music, or if you’re just looking for some great new music to check out, then this is the article for you. We’ve compiled a list of some of the best indie rock and dance music out there, so you can find something new to listen to.

LCD Soundsystem

LCD Soundsystem is one of the most influential bands in dance music, and their impact is still being felt today. The band’s self-titled debut album was released in 2002, and it instantly became a dancefloor classic. The album’s mix of punk, disco, and electronic music was ahead of its time, and it influenced a generation of dance musicians. LCD Soundsystem’s last album, This Is Happening, was released in 2010, and it is widely considered to be one of the best dance albums of all time.

Hot Chip

Hot Chip is an English rock and dance music band formed in London in 2000. The five-piece band consists of Alexis Taylor (vocals, keyboards, guitars), Joe Goddard (vocals, electronics), Owen Clarke (synthesizers, guitars), Al Doyle (synthesizers, guitars, trumpet) and Felix Martin (drums).

Their debut album Coming on Strong was released in 2004 to critical acclaim and commercial success, reaching number 33 on the UK album chart. It was nominated for the Mercury Prize and was voted the best album of the year by NME magazine.

Hot Chip’s second album The Warning was released in 2006 to even greater critical acclaim, reaching number four on the UK album chart and being nominated for the Mercury Prize. It also contained the singles “Over and Over” and “Boy from School”, both of which were huge hits in the UK.

Hot Chip’s third album Made in the Dark was released in 2008 to commercial and critical acclaim. It reached number five on the UK album chart and contained the singles “Ready for the Floor” and “One Pure Thought”.

Hot Chip’s fourth album One Life Stand was released in 2010 to positive reviews. It reached number three on the UK album chart and contained the singles “I Feel Better” and “Take It In”.

Hot Chip’s fifth album In Our Heads was released in 2012 to positive reviews. It reached number two on the UK album chart and contained the single “Flutes”.

Hot Chip’s sixth album Why Make Sense? Was released in 2015 to positive reviews. It reached number two on the UK vinyl chart and contained the singles “Huarache Lights” and “Need You Now”.


Justice is a French electronic music duo consisting of Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay. They are known for their distinct visual style and their eclectic mix of different genres. Their debut album † was released in June 2007 to critical acclaim. The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronica Album, and the single “D.A.N.C.E.” won the Grammy for Best Dance Recording.

Justice’s second album Audio, Video, Disco was released in October 2011. The album received mixed reviews, with some critics praising its experimental nature and others finding it too indulgent. The singles “Civilization” and “On’n’On” were moderate commercial successes, while the album’s title track failed to make an impact on charts.

In 2016, Justice returned with their third album Woman, which received positive reviews from critics and was a commercial success. The singles “Safe and Sound” and “Fire” were particularly successful, both reaching the top 10 of the UK dance charts.
