WXRT has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 3,000 watts. By day, its signal is non-directional but at night, using a directional antenna, its signal follows the shoreline of Lake Michigan reaching northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan.

The station first went on the air on September 26, 1972 as WFYR-FM. It was co-owned with WFYR 1330 AM (now WCGO). Both stations had a beautiful music format with no disk jockeys nor commercial announcements except for a brief ID during the hourly newscast from Mutual Broadcasting System news service.

History

WFUV (90.7 FM) is a non-commercial, public radio station licensed to Fordham University in The Bronx, New York City. The station is owned by Fordham University and operated by its independent student run organization, Fordham Radio. WFUV signed on for the first time on December 15, 1947. broadcasting mostly classical music programming. In the 1960s, the station shifted to a progressive rock format before eventually settling on an adult album alternative format in the late 1970s. WFUV is a charter affiliate of NPR, and is one of the highest-rated NPR stations in the New York metropolitan area. The station’s call letters stand for “Fordham University’s Voice.”

KCRW

KCRW is one of the best kept secrets in the Los Angeles radio market. The station has a unique mix of music that can’t be found anywhere else. KCRW also has a strong commitment to local music and has a wide variety of programs that focus on different genres.

KCRW is based in Santa Monica, California, and broadcasts to the Greater Los Angeles area on 89.9 MHz FM. It is licensed by NPR to Occidental College. The station receives no direct financial support from either Occidental College or NPR but relies on contributions from listeners.

Program Directors

KCRW’s programming is divided into several dayparts. Overnight and early morning hours are dedicated to news, information and cultural programming, while the latter morning and daytime hours feature music programming with a variety of genres represented. Afternoons are anchored by KCRW’s signature music show, “Morning Becomes Eclectic.” Early evenings feature more music programming, followed by news and information in the latter evening hours.

KCRW (89.9 MHz FM) is a National Public Radio member station broadcasting from the campus of Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, California. The station is the flagship station of NPR for Greater Los Angeles and Southern California, and is one of two full-fledged NPR member stations in the Greater Los Angeles Area (the other being KPCC). KCRW airs original news and music programming in addition to programming from NPR and other public radio networks.

The station’s general manager is Jennifer Ferro. The station’s main transmitter is based on Mount Wilson, sharing a site with PBS member station KCET.
