If you’re looking for a music festival to check out in May, there are plenty of options in Ireland! From folk to rock to indie and everything in between, there’s something for everyone. Here are just a few of the festivals taking place in May:

Forbidden Fruit- May 30th-June 1st

This year’s Forbidden Fruit festival takes place in The Royal Hospital Kilmainham, Dublin, on the May bank holiday weekend (30th April – 1st May).

The lineup for this year’s event includes headliners LCD Soundsystem, who will be making their long-awaited live return at the festival, as well as productions from Richie Hawtin and Four Tet.

Other artists performing at the festival include: 808 State, Boom Bip, John Talabot, Bicep, Fort Romeau, Ben UFO, Daphni, Jackmaster, Joy Orbison, Optimo, Prosumer, Gerd Janson and many more.

Life Festival- May 27th-30th

Life Festival is returning to Belvedere House and Gardens in County Westmeath for its ninth year this May Bank Holiday weekend, from Friday 27th to Monday 30th. Set against the stunning backdrop of Belvedere House, with its beautiful mansion, lakes and forests, Life Festival is the perfect way to kick off the summer season. The festival is renowned for its eclectic mix of music, ranging from techno and house to hip hop and reggae, as well as its stunning setting, making it a firm favourite with festival-goers.

Sea Sessions- June 24th-26th

Sea Sessions is an annual surf and music festival held in Bundoran, County Donegal. The three-day event features a lineup of both international and local bands, as well as surfing competitions, DJ sets, and other activities.

This year’s lineup includes headliners LCD Soundsystem, The Chemical Brothers, Foals, andArcade Fire, among many others.

Body&Soul- June 24th-26th

June brings some of the best music festivals in Ireland, perfect for getting outdoors and enjoying the summer weather. Check out our top picks for May and June below.

Body&Soul is a boutique music and arts festival set in the stunning grounds of Ballinlough Castle in County Westmeath. With a strong focus on creating an intimate and unique atmosphere, Body&Soul features top international and local musical acts, as well as art installations, performance art, gourmet food, and much more. Past headliners have included Patti Smith, Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, and Hot Chip.

Castlepalooza- July 29th-31st

Castlepalooza is a three day music and arts festival set in the grounds of Charleville Castle, Tullamore, Co. Offaly in the centre of Ireland. The festival has a strong focus on Irish talent with 50% of the acts on the bill being Irish. It tries to bring an eclectic mix of music to it’s stages from indie, rock, hip hop, electronica, acoustic and much more.
