The band became quite popular in the Boston music scene and they released two albums – “Rocktopus” (1991) and “Ocean of Sound” (1993). Around this time, Johnny also started working as a producer and songwriter for other artists. In 1994, he produced the album “Nocturnal Emissions” by the band BostonCommon (which featured future members of Rocktopus). The album was well-received by critics and is considered one of the best albums of the 90s.

In 1995, Johnny’s life changed forever when he met his future wife Jane at a party. They got married six months later and had two children together – John Jr (born 1996) and Emma (born 1998). Johnny put his music career on hold to focus on his family but he continued to work behind the scenes as a producer and songwriter. In 2000, he produced the album “Bungee Jumping” by the band Seven Mary Three – it was a huge commercial success and went platinum in the United States.

In 2010, tragedy struck when Jane died suddenly of a brain aneurysm. Johnny was left to raise their two children on his own. He took some time off from work to focus on being a father but eventually returned to songwriting and production. In 2016, he produced the album “Human Condition” by the band Hoobastank – it received critical acclaim and won several awards.
