Renowned soprano to teach at Crane

The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam is pleased to announce that world-renowned Metropolitan Opera soprano Elizabeth caballero will be teaching a master class at the School on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

The class will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in Snell Theater, and is free and open to the public. Sopranos interested in participating in the class should prepare two selections from the standard operatic repertoire, one in English and one in a foreign language. They should also bring a headshot and resume. To sign up, please email [email protected] by Sept. 30.

Elizabeth Caballero has captivated audiences around the world with her_. She made her triumphant Metropolitan Opera debut as Mimì in ‘. Since then, she has returned to the Met stage many times, most recently as both Liù in ‘. and as Violetta in ‘.

Ms. Caballero’s other recent engagements include Floria Tosca in ‘. with ‘, Micaëla in ‘. with ‘, Violetta Valéry in ‘. with Opera Carolina, Mimì in ‘.’ with Palm Beach Opera and the title role in ‘. with Tulsa Opera. Upcoming engagements include Tosca with Virginia Opera and Mimi’.

Crane students to have access to world-class instruction

The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam is thrilled to announce that world-renowned Metropolitan Opera soprano Jessica Vaughn will be joining the faculty this fall.

Crane students will now have access to world-class instruction, as Vaughn will be teaching both private voice lessons and a master class on vocal technique. In addition, she will be working with the Crane Opera Ensemble and directing the voice department’s yearly opera production.

“We are so fortunate to have Jessica Vaughn joining our faculty,” said Crane School of Music Dean Scott James. “She is not only an outstanding singer, but also a gifted teacher. Our students are going to benefit enormously from her expertise.”

Vaughn made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 2016 as Gilda in Verdi’s “Rigoletto.” She has also sung with major opera companies such as the San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Santa Fe Opera and the Glimmerglass Festival. In addition to her operatic work, Vaughn is an active recitalist and concert artist, performing throughout the United States and Europe.

Metropolitan Opera soprano to teach master classes

Elena Panorama, a soprano with the Metropolitan Opera, will be teaching two master classes at the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam on April 11 and 12.

Panorama will be working with SUNY Potsdam students on both days, from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. in Snell Theater. The public is invited to attend these free events.

Crane students to benefit from world-class instruction

Crane students are in for a treat this semester as world-renowned Metropolitan Opera soprano Angela Meade will be teaching a master class. Meade, who has been praised for her “powerful voice” and “vibrant stage presence,” will be working with Crane students on vocal technique, interpretation, and stagecraft.

This is a rare opportunity for Crane students to receive instruction from one of the world’s leading operatic voices. Meade is a three-time Grammy Award winner and has been hailed as “the most commanding Verdian soprano of her generation.” Her advice and expertise will be invaluable for Crane students who are interested in pursuing a career in opera or any other area of vocal performance.
