The Moores School of Music Opera House was constructed in 1987 as part of the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. The two-story, 1,060-seat venue is located on the corner of Entrance 1 and Entrance 8 on the university’s campus.

The building was designed by Houston-based architects Ed Eaves and Howard Barnstone, who also designed the university’s Blaffer Art Museum and Kinder Baumgardner Center for Pulling Up Stakes Theater. The opera house is named for John and Rebecca Moores, major donors to the school.
