There are a lot of new R&B and Hip Hop songs out this month. Here are a few that you should check out.

SZA- “The Weekend”

SZA’s music career began in 2012, when she self-released her first EP entitled See.SZA.Run. SZA then went on to release two more EPs, Z and S, before finally dropping her highly anticipated debut album, Ctrl, in 2017. “The Weekend” is a track off of Ctrl that has been widely praised for its seductive and sensual lyrics. The song peaked at number seven on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, making it SZA’s highest-charting single to date.

Khalid- “OTW”

One of the breakout stars of 2017, Khalid has been on a hot streak ever since the release of his debut album, “American Teen.” The Texas-based artist has just dropped a new single, “OTW,” which features 6LACK and Ty Dolla $ign.

“OTW” is a smooth, laid-back track that finds Khalid singing about a relationship that’s on the way. “We don’t gotta hide it / I know we’re different colors but we’re not too different / If love is all we’re looking for then we should look no further,” he croons on the chorus.

6LACK and Ty Dolla $ign both turn in solid performances as well, with 6LACK especially standing out with his catchy verse. “You say you need that ‘Love & Hip Hop,’ baby what’s your price tag? / I’m tryna see what I can do to make that work for you,” he raps.

Ella Mai- “Boo’d Up”

Ella Mai is a British singer and songwriter who has been making waves in the R&B world since 2016. She is best known for her breakout hit “Boo’d Up”, which samples several classic R&B songs and has become a major summer anthem. Mai’s debut album, Ella Mai, was released in October 2018 and includes the singles “Boo’d Up” and “Trip”.

Hip Hop

Cardi B- “Be Careful”

Cardi B is back with a new single, “Be Careful,” and it’s a total bop. The track is a warning to her man about all the other women who are trying to get with him. It’s both a relatable and catchy tune, and we can’t get enough of it.

J. Cole- “KOD”

On J. Cole’s new album “KOD,” the rapper explores the dangers of addiction and the relationship between music and drugs. The title is a reference to the three different types of addiction that Cole sees in today’s society: kids, overdose, and kill. The album artwork features a young boy holding a speaker to his ear, symbolizing how music can be both a poison and a cure. “KOD” is a powerful and thought-provoking album that will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about hip hop.

Drake- “Nice for What”

Drake’s “Nice for What” is a hip hop song released in 2018. The song samples Lauryn Hill’s “Ex-Factor” and features female rappers Lil Baby, Murda Beatz, and Drake. The song peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
