Here are five Norwegian electronic music artists you need to know. These producers are making some of the best music in the genre today.


Kygo is a Norwegian DJ, record producer, and songwriter. He gained international fame with his remix of the track “I See Fire” by Ed Sheeran, which has been viewed on YouTube more than 260 million times. Kygo has released several singles, including “Firestone” and “Stole the Show,” which have charted in several countries. His debut studio album, Cloud Nine, was released in 2016.

Kygo’s music has been described as tropical house,[2][3] and Kygo himself has said his music could be defined as “chill and happy”.[4][5] In an interview with Billboard, he stated that “[I want my music] to make people feel something… happy, hopeful or nostalgic.”[6] On his production, he uses a mixture of Rhodes pianos, guitars, and other string instruments with bass-heavy electronic dance production. His remixes often contain elements of the original song with added tropical instrumentation.

Norwegian-born, New York-based producer Cashmere Cat made his name with a series of beloved remixes (Björk, Lana Del Rey, 2 Chainz) before releasing his own original music. In 2014, he put out his Wedding Bells EP, which featured collaborations with Ariana Grande, Chance the Rapper, and Kanye West, among others.
