As a member of the Old Town School of Folk Music, you are part of a vibrant community of music makers and supporters who share a passion for American roots music, international folk traditions, and contemporary expression. Your membership helps to ensure that the Old Town School remains a vital cultural institution and gathering place for people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Membership benefits include:

-Invitations to special events, such as members-only concerts, parties, and workshops
-Discounts on classes, private lessons, concerts, and events
-10% discount at the Folk Center Store and at select Chicago area music stores
-Subscription to our quarterly member magazine, String Along

We offer two types of membership: Individual and Family. Individual memberships are $40 per year and Family memberships are $70 per year. Membership dues are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Access to the Member Portal

As an Old Town School of Folk Music member, you will have access to the Member Portal. This is an online community where you can connect with other members, find out about upcoming events, and get exclusive news and discounts. You will also be able to register for classes and workshops, and manage your account information.

Members-only events

As a member of the Old Town School of Folk Music, you’ll have access to a number of members-only events throughout the year. These events include performances, workshops, and social gatherings that are exclusive to members. You’ll also receive advance notice and discounts on tickets to many of the School’s public events.

How to become a member

Have you ever wanted to learn how to play the guitar or the drums? The Old Town School of Folk Music has been teaching people how to play instruments and sing since 1957.
