Introduction

Pantoum of the Opera is a delightful, comedic romp through some of the most popular songs in Musical Theater. Antonio Baravous and Sarah team up to provide a new and unique look at these well-loved classics.

Antonio Baravous

Sarah, a young woman, is at an opera. She’s bored and not really enjoying it. As she’s about to leave, she sees Antonio, a handsome man, also trying to leave. They make eye contact and smile at each other.

His work

Antonio Baravous is a composer, singer, and songwriter who has worked in various genres including pop, rock, and opera.

He has composed music for film and television, including the score for the cult classic The Room and the Netflix series Stranger Things.

Baravous has also released several solo albums, and his work has been featured on NPR, BBC Radio, and in The Guardian.

He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.

His inspiration

Antavious was born in Biloxi, Mississippi. When he was only seven years old, his family moved to Mobile, Alabama. It was there that he found his true passion – music. At the age of sixteen, he started playing the piano and singing in a local church choir. After graduating from high school, he attended college at Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans. It was there that he met Sarah, who would later become his wife.

After college, Antonio moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a professional musician. He worked hard for many years, playing in various clubs and restaurants around town. Finally, his big break came when he was asked to be a featured performer in the music video for Pantoum of the Opera: Music Video with Antonio Baravous and Sarah.

The video was an instant success, and Antonio’s career took off. He has since released two albums and has toured all over the world. He is currently working on his third album, which is set to be released later this year.

Sarah

Sarah Brightman is an English singer, songwriter, actress, dancer and musician. She has sung in many languages and has sold over 150 million records and CDs worldwide. Sarah has also been a pioneer in the development of classical crossover music, a genre that combines classical music with pop, rock, and other genres.

Her work

Sarah is a classically trained musician, actress and dancer who has been performing her entire life. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Michigan and a Master’s degree in Opera Performance from the Manhattan School of Music. Sarah has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Hollywood Bowl and many other prestigious venues around the world. She has also been a soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, The New York City Opera and The Metropolitan Opera. Sarah has released two albums of original music, ” Shadows of Time” and “Nostalgia”, which are available on iTunes and Amazon. She is currently working on her third album, “Theatre of Dreams”, which will be released in 2019.

Her inspiration

Sarah had the idea to create a “Pantoum of the Opera” after she saw the movie “Phantom of the Opera” and was inspired by the music. She felt that the music in the movie was so beautiful and haunting, and she wanted to create a music video that would capture that feeling.

Sarah enlisted the help of her friend Antonio Baravous, who is a musician and composer. Together, they created a musical arrangement of several popular opera songs, including “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Don Giovanni,” and “Carmen.” They also filmed a music video to go along with the arrangement, which features Sarah singing and dancing in various costumes.

The “Pantoum of the Opera” has been well-received by Sarah’s friends and family, and she hopes to share it with a wider audience through YouTube.

The video

In the video, Antonio Baravous and Sarah are shown in an opera house. They are both singing the lead roles in an aria from an opera. The video is set to the music of the aria and shows the two of them singing and interacting with each other.

The plot

The video opens with Antonio Baravous and Sarah in an empty theatre. They are both wearing 18th century-style clothes, and they seem to be getting ready for a performance. As they walk around the stage, they begin to talk about their favourite operas. Sarah sings a few bars from ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ by Mozart, and Antonio talks about ‘Don Giovanni’ by the same composer.

They then start to discuss their favourite scenes from various operas. Sarah sings the ‘ Habanera’ from ‘Carmen’ by Bizet, and Antonio talks about the ‘Toreador Song’ from the same opera. They continue to discuss other operas, including ‘La Bohème’ by Puccini and ‘Madama Butterfly’ by Rossini.

As they talk, it becomes clear that they are both very passionate about opera. They singing together briefly before the video ends with them walking offstage together arm in arm.

The music

The music of the video is an original composition by Antonio Baravous, with the vocals being performed by Sarah. The piece is a pantoum, which is a form of poetic verse that originated in Malaysia. In a pantoum, each verse is composed of two lines that rhyme, and the third and fourth lines of each verse serve as the first and second lines of the next verse. The final verse of the pantoum often repeats the first line of the poem, creating a cyclical effect.

The music of the Pantoum of the Opera video follows this form, with each verse focusing on a different character from The Phantom of the Opera. The first verse introduces us to the Phantom himself, with the second and third verses focusing on Christine and Raoul, respectively. The fourth and final verse brings everything full circle by once again featuring the Phantom. Throughout the video, we see clips from various film adaptations of The Phantom of the Opera, all set to Antonio’s haunting musical composition.

The message

The lyrics of the song are printed as a pantoum poem, which is a type of poem that has a specific structure. The first and second lines of the poem are repeated as the fourth and fifth lines, and so on. This structure creates a sense of movement and change, which is fitting for a song about opera.

The video begins with shots of an empty opera house, with the sound of an audience murmuring in the background. We then see Antonio Baravous and Sarah, two young opera singers, preparing for their performance. They are both dressed in traditional opera clothing, and they look nervous.

As they sing the pantoum poem, we see shots of them performing on stage, as well as footage of them rehearing and practicing their roles. At the end of the video, we see them take their bows on stage, to applause from the audience.

Conclusion

And so, the two lovers are torn apart by their respective commitments to art and family. But in the end, they find a way to be together, and their love for each other and for music endures.
