Michael Crawford

Michael Crawford is a British actor and singer best known for his role as the Phantom in “The Phantom of the Opera.” He has also appeared in such films as “Hello, Dolly!” and “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.” Crawford has recorded a number of albums, both solo and with various artists, and his rendition of “Music of the Night” from “The Phantom of the Opera” is one of the most popular.

Sarah Brightman

Sarah Brightman is an English singer, actress, songwriter and dancer. She has sung in many languages including English, Spanish, French, Latin, German, Turkish, Russian, Mandarin Chinese and Corsican. Brightman began her career as a member of the dance troupe Hot Gossip and then joined the short-lived group Pan’s People. She made her West End musical debut in Cats and met composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, whom she married. She went on to star in several of his musicals including The Phantom of the Opera, where she originated the role of Christine Daaé.

Brightman has since divorced Lloyd Webber and married actor/producer Jim Henley. She has appeared in numerous television shows and movies such as Jesus Christ Superstar (1993), Sunset Boulevard (1994), Theairold Way (1995), Requiem – The Dream of an Opera (1997) and A Knight’s Tale (2001). In 2006, Brightman released her first album in five years entitled Symphony which debuted at No. 1 in over 22 countries worldwide. In 2010, she commenced the Symphony World Tour to promote the album which spanned across five continents and 35 countries; it was seen by over two million people.

English singer-songwriter Steve Harley covered “Music of the Night” for his album Homo Erraticus (2014).

One of the most successful singers of all time, Barbara Streisand has sold more than 145 million records worldwide. She has won Academy Awards, Emmy Awards, Grammy Awards and Golden Globe Awards, making her one of only sixteen performers to win all four major annual American entertainment awards. Music of the Night was originally released as a single from Streisand’s 1994 album Back to Broadway.

Josh Groban

Josh Groban’s cover of “Music of the Night” from The Phantom of the Opera was released on his album Closer. Groban’s cover is in a lower key than Michael Crawford’s original, and is more subdued and intimate.

Michael Ball

Michael Ball (born 27 June 1962) is an English actor, singer and broadcaster, who is known for his work in musical theatre. He made his West End debut in 1985 playing Marius in Les Misérables, and went on to star in a number of successful musicals. He has released fourteen solo albums, including two number one UK chart hits: “Love Changes Everything” (as part of the musical Aspects of Love) and “One Step Out of Time”.

One of the most well-known classical crossover singers of our time, Katherine Jenkins has sold over eight million albums and has achieved numerous gold and platinum discs. A mezzo-soprano, Katherine has a beautifully clear voice which is perfectly suited to the soaring melodies of “Music of the Night.” In 2006, she released an album called “Serenade” which included her version of this classic song.
