Show by Rock: The Musical is a Japanese musical based on the anime series Show by Rock!!. It ran from April 5 to May 29, 2016, at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo in Nakano, Tokyo.

Show by Rock: The Musical is a Japanese musical based on the anime series Show by Rock!!. The musical premiered in Tokyo in September 2016, and has since toured to Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka.

The story of Show by Rock: The Musical follows the adventures of Cyan, Chuchu, Retoree, and Moa as they form the band “Plasmagica” and compete in the “Battle of the Bands.”

The Story

Based on the mobile game by Geechs, Show by Rock!! is set in the city of Midi, where music and fashion are everything. The story follows the adventures of Cyan, a timid girl who is transformed into a Gothic Lolita rockstar by a Magical Guitar, and her fellow band members Chuchu, Retoree, and Moa. Together, they hope to make it to the top of the Midi Music Fest and take their rightful place as the ultimate rock band!

The Future

The second season, titled “Show by Rock!!#”, aired from April 2, 2016 to June 18, 2016. The season picks up sometime after the events of the first, with Cyan now living in a dorm with Chuchu, Retoree, and Moa as they continue to perform as Plasmagica. New characters include Rashima ( voiced by Mamoru Miyano), a former child prodigy who lost his passion for music; Romeo (voiced by Hiro Shimono), Rashima’s loyal butler; and Rosia (voiced by Nana Mizuki), the leader of a rival band called Trichronika.
