Introduction

The annual Soul Train Music Awards ceremony celebrates the accomplishments of recording artists in the soul, R&B, and hip-hop genres. The Album/Mixtape of the Year award is given to the artist whose album or mixtape has had the biggest impact within the Soul Train community over the past year. This year’s nominees for Album/Mixtape of the Year are J. Cole’s “4 Your Eyez Only,” Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN.,” Khalid’s “American Teen,” SZA’s “CTRL,” and Tyler, The Creator’s “Flower Boy.”
