The 2015 Soul Train Awards were held this past weekend in Las Vegas, and as always, there were plenty of highs and lows. Here are our picks for the best and worst moments of the show!

The Best

This year’s Soul Train Music Awards were full of great performances, great fashion, and some surprises. Here are the best moments of the show.

Best Male R&B/Pop Artist – Jeremih

It was a big night for R&B at the 2015 Soul Train Music Awards, andJeremih took home the trophy for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist. The Chicago native has had a breakout year with his hit single, “Don’t Tell ‘Em,” and he showed his appreciation for the award by giving a shout-out to all of the other nominees in his category. Jeremih is up for several Grammy Awards this year, so it’s safe to say that we’ll be seeing more of him in the near future.

Best Female R&B/Pop Artist – Tinashe

Tinashe was up against some stiff competition in this category, but her sultry vocals and incredible stage presence made her a clear winner. Her 2014 debut album “Aquarius” was one of the best reviewed albums of the year, and she followed it up with a successful string of singles and live performances. There’s no doubt that Tinashe is a force to be reckoned with, and we’re excited to see what she does next.

Best R&B/Soul Male Artist – The Weeknd

The Weeknd was easily the biggest winner of the night, taking home four awards, including Best R&B/Soul Male Artist. It was a big year for the singer, who released his second studio album, Beauty Behind the Madness, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and produced the hit singles “Earned It” and “Can’t Feel My Face.”

The Worst

The 2015 Soul Train Music Awards were held on November 29, 2015, at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Soul Train Music Awards is an annual music awards show that honors the best in Black music and entertainment. The show was hosted by rapper and actor, T.I. and singer, Tamar Braxton.

Worst Dressed – K. Michelle

K. Michelle stepped out on the red carpet at the 2015 Soul Train Music Awards this past Sunday (November 29) in Las Vegas and…wait, what is she wearing!?

The self-proclaimed curvy girl donned a skintight, black and white paisley print jumpsuit that hugged all her curves in all the wrong ways. And as if that wasn’t enough of an optical illusion, she decided to top off the look with a bright yellow fur coat. We can appreciate her boldness, but this was a fail in our book.

Biggest Snub – Beyoncé

The 2015 Soul Train Music Awards were held this past Sunday, and while there were plenty of standout moments, there was also one big snub. Despite being one of the biggest stars in music today, Beyoncé was snubbed in the Best R&B/Soul Female Artist category, losing out to Rihanna.

This is far from the first time Beyoncé has been snubbed by an awards show – she infamously lost out on the Best Female Video MTV VMA to Britney Spears in 2007 – but it’s still a little bit surprising, especially considering how much critical acclaim her latest album, Lemonade, has received.

Of course, there’s always next year – and we’re sure Beyoncé will be back with even more amazing music. In the meantime, we’ll be over here listening to “Formation” on repeat.
