The Best of St. Louis Blues Music

The St. Louis blues is a type of music created in the early 1900s by African Americans who lived in the city of St. Louis, Missouri. The style of music is a mix of African and European musical traditions, and it became popular in the United States during the 1920s.

The St. Louis blues scene was centered around the city’s West End, which was home to many nightclubs and bars that featured live music. Some of the most famous St. Louis blues musicians include W.C. Handy, Jelly Roll Morton, and Louis Armstrong.

The St. Louis blues sound is characterized by its use of blue notes, which are notes that are played at a slightly lower pitch than standard notes. This gives the music a sad or longing sound, which reflects the experiences of many African Americans living in poverty in early 20th-century America.
