Lamb began his musical career in the early 2000s as a member of the band called Stellar Wind Machine. The band released one album before disbanding. He then formed the Joshua Lamb Project, which released two albums. In 2010, Lamb began performing as a solo artist. He has released two solo albums and one EP. His music has been described as “a mix of metal, hard rock, sludge, and psychedelia”.

The Early Years

Joshua Lamb was born in Los Angeles, California in 1974. His father was a session musician who played keyboards on some of the biggest hits of the 1970s. His mother was a singer who toured with bands like The Doors, The Grateful Dead, and Janis Joplin. Lamb was exposed to music at a very young age and it had a profound effect on him.

The formation of Joshua Lamb

Joshua Lamb was formed in early 2016 by friends Josh (vocals, guitar) and Cam (drums). They were soon joined by Jarrod (bass) and began jamming in Josh’s lounge room in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.

The three members all shared a love of metal, rock and psychedelic music, and quickly began writing their own material, drawing influence from bands such as Kyuss, Sleep, Electric Wizard, Eyehategod and Black Sabbath.

Their debut self-titled album was released in May 2016, and was met with positive reviews from the international stoner/doom community.

The band toured Australia extensively throughout 2016 and 2017, playing shows with the likes ofGoatsnake, Dopethrone, Skeleton Witch, Fistula and Dead Space.

In 2018, Joshua Lamb signed with American record label Small Stone Records and began working on their sophomore album ‘Dopamine’. The album was released to critical acclaim in October 2018, with many publications hailing it as one of the best stoner/doom albums of the year.

Joshua Lamb is currently touring Australia and Europe in support of ‘Dopamine’.

Lamb died on May 28, 2015, at the age of 27.
