I Love Music

The O’Jays are an American R&B group from Canton, Ohio, formed in 1958 and originally consisting of Eddie Levert (lead vocals), Walter Williams (drums, lead vocals), Bill Isles (guitar), Bobby Massey (guitar, bass guitar), and Kenneth Gamble (keyboards). Gamble and Huff parlayed their Philadelphia soul sound to massive pop success with The O’Jays, explicitly invoking African-American struggle in music while becoming crossover ambassadors in the process.

The group’s musical output has primarily been produced by Gamble & Huff’s London-based label Philadelphia International Records. Their hits include “Love Train” (1972), “I Love Music” (1975), and “Family Reunion” (1975). The O’Jays were inducted into The Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004, and The Grammy Hall of Fame in 2008.
