Conclusion

It’s fitting that the Psychedelic Furs would make a comeback in 2017, as their sound is more relevant than ever in today’s musical landscape. With anthemic choruses, jangling guitars, and working-class lyrics, the Furs were able to transcend theNew Wave label that was bestowed upon them and emerge as one of the most influential rock bands of the 1980s. “The Boy That Invented Rock & Roll” is a perfect example of the Furs’ ability to craft a catchy tune that also packs a punch. This song is sonically and lyrically dense, and it’s a perfect example of why the Psychedelic Furs are still relevant today.
