What is Electronic Dance Music?

Electronic Dance Music, or EDM as it is commonly called, is a type of music that is typically associated with nightclubs and rave culture. It is characterized by heavy basslines and synthesizer-generated melodies, and often has a fast tempo. EDM has its roots in the 1970s disco music scene, but has since evolved into its own distinct genre.

Some of the most popular subgenres of EDM include house, techno, trance, drum and bass, and dubstep. In recent years, EDM has become increasingly mainstream, with some of the largest music festivals in the world such as Tomorrowland and Ultra Music Festival featuring mostly electronic music on their lineups.

Martin Garrix is a Dutch DJ and electronic music producer. His song “Animals” was a hit in many countries in 2013. In 2016, his song “In the Name of Love” with Bebe Rexha was a top ten hit in several countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia.

Alan Walker

Alan Walker is a Norwegian record producer and DJ, born in 1993. He is best known for his 2015 single “Faded”, which received platinum certifications in over 10 countries. Walker has released several other singles, including “Sing Me to Sleep” and “Alone”. In 2016, he released the album Different World.

The Chainsmokers

The Chainsmokers are an American DJ and production duo consisting of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart. They started out by making remixes of popular songs before releasing their own original songs. Some of their most popular songs include “Closer”, “Don’t Let Me Down”, “Paris” and “Something Just Like This”. In 2016, they won a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording with their song “Don’t Let Me Down”.
