With an eclectic mix of music styles, Psychedelic Rock and Salsa is a truly unique fusion band. Featuring a wide range of instruments including guitar, keyboard, bass, drums, and percussion, the band has a sound that is truly their own.

How the band came to be
Tucson’s Psychedelic Rock and Salsa Band is a seven-piece band that formed in the spring of 2010. The band members are:
-Abe Lloyd (guitar, lead vocals)
-Mikey Baker (bass, backing vocals)
-Graham Rectenwald (drums, percussion)
-Dylan McCaffrey (keyboards, backing vocals)
-Emily Eggebrecht (violin, mandolin)
-Sean Dolan (trumpet)
-Sandy Baker (saxophone, flute).
The band came together when Lloyd and Baker, who had been playing in various rock bands together for years, decided to start a new project that would incorporate their shared love of salsa music. They recruited some friends and quickly began rehearsing and playing shows around Tucson.

What the band sounds like
Tucson’s Psychedelic Rock and Salsa Band has a sound that is a cross between Santana and the Grateful Dead. The band is led by guitarist/singer Carlos Arzola, who has been described as “a true original.” Arzola’s style is a mix of rock, blues, salsa, and Latin jazz. The band also features the vocals of Patricia Reinoso-Arzola, who has a powerful voice that recalls the great Latin singers of the past. The band’s sound is completed by the rhythms of drummer/percussionist Alex Rizo and bassist/singer Oscar Hernandez.
The band’s music has been influenced by a wide variety of artists, including Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Celia Cruz, Bob Dylan, and the Grateful Dead. Tucson’s Psychedelic Rock and Salsa Band strives to create a unique sound that is both familiar and new.
