How KUCB’s new show is giving listeners a fresh perspective on music

KUCB’s new show, “Unalaska’s Psychedelic Rock Radio Scene,” is giving listeners a fresh perspective on music. The show, which airs every Friday at 5 p.m., is a mix of classic and modern psychedelic rock, with a focus on the local scene.

“We wanted to create a show that would showcase the talent and diversity of the local music scene,” said KUCB Program Director Erin McKittrick. “There’s a lot of great music being made here, and we wanted to give it a platform.”

The show is hosted by DJ Psychedelic Pete, who has been spinning records in Unalaska for more than 20 years. Pete says the goal of the show is to get people thinking about music in new ways.

“I want people to hear things they’ve never heard before,” he said. “Hopefully it will expand their minds and make them think about music in a different way.”

So far, the reaction to the show has been positive, with many listeners calling in to request songs and say how much they’re enjoying it. McKittrick says she’s surprised by how quickly the show has caught on.

“I thought it might take a little while for people to warm up to it, but it seems like everyone is really into it,” she said. “It’s been really exciting to see.”

What makes KUCB’s new show different from other radio stations

KUCB’s new show is different from other radio stations because it is the only one in the country that is dedicated to playing psychedelic rock music. The show is called “The Trip” and it airs every Wednesday night at 10pm.

The show is hosted by DJ James Rucker, who has been a part of the Unalaska community for over 20 years. Rucker says that he started the show because he wants to give listeners a chance to hear something different than what they typically find on the radio.

“Mostradio stations tend to play the same 20 or 30 songs over and over again. I wanted to create a show that would expose listeners to a wide variety of music, including some lesser known artists,” said Rucker.

Rucker says that he tries to play a mix of old and new music on the show, and he often features local bands from Alaska.

The Trip is just one of many shows on KUCB that provides listeners with an alternative to mainstream radio. Other shows on KUCB include “The Blue Hour” which plays blues music, “Reggae Train” which plays reggae music, and “The Worldbeat Show” which plays world music.

How KUCB’s new show is connecting with listeners

KUCB’s new show ” Psychedelic Sleepover” is connecting with listeners by providing a mix of psychedelic rock music from the 60s and 70s. The show airs every Saturday night from 10pm-12am and is hosted by DJ Alex.

What’s next for KUCB’s new show

Now that KUCB’s new show, “Unalaska’s Psychedelic Rock Radio Scene,” has been on the air for a few weeks, we sat down with the hosts to find out what’s next for the show.

“We’re just getting started,” says DJ John Rodgers. “There’s a lot of great music out there, and we’re just scratching the surface.”

The show airs every Monday night from 10pm to midnight, and features a mix of classic and contemporary psychedelic rock. Rodgers says they try to play something for everyone.

“We’ve had some requests for more obscure stuff, so we try to mix it up,” he says. “We want to keep it interesting.”

Co-host Alexia fund also says they’re always open to suggestions from listeners.

“If there’s something you want to hear, let us know,” she says. “We’ll do our best to track it down.”
