The Plot

The year is 2302. On the planet Mall, music and freedom have been outlawed by the tyrannical Globalsoft Corporation, led by the Killer Queen. Into this world comes Galileo Figaro – dreamer, ‘musician’, and totally unique. When he meets noodle bar server Scaramouche Saturnalia, they begin a journey to find others like them – those with the passion to ROCK! Along with rockers Buddy Marotti and Oz Ozzel they set out to overthrow the Killer Queen and her villainous regime, in a fight to save Mall’s very soul…

With hits like ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘Under Pressure’, ‘Somebody To Love’ and ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’, this musical is a celebration of Queen’s greates’t hits.

They must band together to find their true identity and save rock and roll before it’s destroyed forever.

The Music

The music of We Will Rock You – The Musical is, unsurprisingly, made up entirely of Queen songs. The majority of the tracks are taken from the band’s album A Night at the Opera, including “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “We Will Rock You”, “Somebody to Love”, and “Death on Two Legs”. The Set

The We Will Rock You musical is set in a time not too long from now, on a planet not too unlike our own, in a universe where music almost doesn’t exist. Imagine a future world where there are no rock bands, no guitars and no musical instruments – except for one. “The axe” is the most powerful musical instrument in the galaxy, and only those who learn to play it can hope to become “The Property Of The Corporation”.

In this future world, Globalsoft is all-powerful. Its corporate slogan is “Download, burn, reboot” and its anthem is “No More Fun”. The populace are fed a diet of synthetic pop via mind-numbing television programmes and sinister propaganda – all controlled by the all-seeing eye of Big Brother… sorry… we mean Globalsoft!

But there are those who believe that things can be different… that somewhere out there, there must be somebody who can save them from this living hell…

The Costumes

The costumes in We Will Rock You are truly incredible. Designed by Tim Hatley, they are a mix of futuristic and retro, with a bit of a punk edge. The costumes help to create the unique world of the musical, and each character has their own style that reflects their personality.
