Donald Andrew “Donnie” McClurkin Jr. (born November 9, 1959) is an American gospel singer and preacher. He has won three Grammy Awards, ten Stellar Awards, two BET Awards, two Soul Train Awards, one Dove Award and one NAACP Image Award. He is one of the most prominent figures in the contemporary Gospel music industry. McClurkin was born in Amityville, New York, to Donald and Ernestine McClurkin. As a young boy growing up in Brooklyn he sang secular music with friends but later joined a local Pentecostal church where he discovered his true talent and love for gospel music. McClurkin served as a musician and choir director at several churches before moving to Florida in 1982 to join the PTL Television Network of Jim Bakker as choir director of Melodyland Christian Center in Anaheim, California. After Bakker’s fall from grace, McClurkin returned to New York to continue pastoring at Restoration Fellowship World Outreach Tabernacle Church (now named Perfecting Faith Church) which he founded in 1986 with 17 members; the church has since grown to over 8,000 members
