Tauheed Epps, better known as 2 Chainz, is an American rapper, songwriter and media personality. He originally gained recognition as one-half of southern hip hop duo Playaz Circle. Along with his partner Dolla Boy, they released two albums before going solo. In 2012, he released his debut solo album, Based on a T.R.U. Story.

His early life and education

2 Chainz was born Tauheed Epps in College Park, Georgia. He attended North Clayton High School, where he played basketball and baseball. He was arrested several times during his teenage years. In 1996, he was convicted of felony cocaine possession and served seven months in jail. After his release, he decided to change his life and focus on music. He attended Alabama State University on a basketball scholarship, but he dropped out after two years to pursue a career in music.

2 Chainz began his music career in the early 2000s as a member of the rap group Playaz Circle. 2 Chainz was arrested in Georgia in 2013 on felony drug charges, but the charges were later dropped. He was also arrested in Maryland in 2012 for disorderly conduct, but that charge was also dropped.
