I was born in the early 90s in Florida, a state that was in the midst of an identity crisis. On one hand, it was the home of Disney World and retirement communities; on the other, it was the site of spring break and Daytona Beach. In the middle of this dichotomy was me. And the soundtrack to my youth was electronic dance music.

Introduction

I am from Florida, a state with a rich and vibrant music scene. One of the genres that has always been popular in Florida is electronic dance music (EDM). For many people, EDM is the sound of clubbing and going to festivals. However, it can also be the sound of driving on the beach or spending time with friends.

There are many different subgenres of EDM, but the two that are most popular in Florida are trance and house. Trance is a genre that is characterized by its use of synthesizers and driving beats. House music is a genre that originated in the clubs of Chicago and is characterized by its use of soulful vocals and funky basslines.

Both genres have their own unique history and culture. In Florida, EDM is more than just music; it is a way of life.
