Here are four new alt rock and indie music albums that you should check out. All four albums are different in style, but each is excellent in its own way.

The 1975- “I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It”

The 1975 is an alt rock and indie band that is quickly rising in popularity. Their newest album, “I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it” is a must listen. It features 12 songs that are all unique and provide something different for the listener. One of my personal favorites is “The Sound” which has an upbeat tempo and an incrediblycatchy hook. Another great song on the album is “A Change of Heart” which is a slower ballad that shows off the band’s vocal talents. Overall, this album is a great addition to any music lover’s collection and I highly recommend checking it out!

Car Seat Headrest- “Teens of Denial”

Will Toledo’s breakthrough album, “Teens of Denial” is a perfect snapshot of the bedroom rock auteur’s world. A wry, introspective College Rock singer-songwriter in the best tradition, Toledo’s restless intelligence and pop culture obsessions shine through on standout tracks like “Fill in the Blank” and “Destroyed by Hippie Powers.” For fans of Pavement, Built to Spill, and Modest Mouse.

Mitski- “Puberty 2”

If you’re in the mood for something different, check out “Puberty 2” by Mitski. This album is a perfect mix of alt rock and indie, and it’s sure to please any music lover.

Mitski is a Japanese-American musician who has been making music since 2012. “Puberty 2” is her third studio album, and it was released to critical acclaim in 2016. The album was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards, and it was named one of the best albums of the year by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and numerous other publications.

If you’re looking for something new to listen to, give “Puberty 2” a try. You won’t be disappointed.

White Lung- “Paradise”

If you’re a fan of alt rock and indie music, then you’ll want to check out the new album from White Lung, “Paradise.” The album is full of catchy tunes and moving lyrics, and it’s sure to become a favorite among fans of the genre. So if you’re looking for new music to add to your collection, be sure to give “Paradise” a listen.

Frankie Cosmos- “Next Thing”

Next Thing is the third studio album by American indie rock band Frankie Cosmos, released on April 28, 2016 on Bayonet Records. The album was written and recorded by the band’s lead singer and songwriter Greta Kline over the course of 2015 in New York City. It was produced by Kline and her husband and collaborator Aaron Maine, who also perform in the band.

The album was preceded by two singles—”Sinister” and “Embody”—both of which were released as music videos. In support of the album, the band toured extensively throughout North America and Europe.

Critical reception for Next Thing was positive. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream publications, the album received an average score of 82 based on 24 reviews.

Pitchfork gave the album a “Best New Music” designation, with reviewer Robin Hilton praising its “startling artistic leaps”, calling it an “intimate, heartbreakingly gorgeous record.” Writing for AllMusic, Mark Deming praised its “sonic clarity and sharp songcraft”, deeming it a step up from previous releases.
