It’s no surprise that Miranda Lambert leads the pack with eight nominations. She’s up forEntertainer of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Single Record of the Year and more. Other multiple nominees include Chris Stapleton (six), Maren Morris (five) and Darius Rucker (five).

As far as Entertainer of the Year goes, Lambert will be up against some stiff competition including last year’s winner Garth Brooks, as well as Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and Luke Bryan. It’s sure to be a close race!

In the Male Artist of the Year category, Stapleton and Urban will go head-to-head, while Bryan is nominated for both Male Artist of the Year and Entertainer of the Year. Bryan is also nominated for Vocal Event of the Year for his collaboration with Little Big Town on “Knockin’ Boots.”

Lambert isn’t the only one with eight nominations — Morris also earned eight nods. She’s up for Female Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Single Record of the Year and more. Morris will go head-to-head with Underwood in the Female Artist of the Year category.

Rucker earned five nominations including nods for both Entertainer of the Year and Male Artist of the Year. He’ll compete against himself in both categories! In addition to his solo work, Rucker is also nominated for Vocal Duo or Group of theYear along with Lady Antebellum.

Who are the dark horses?

The nominatees for the 54th Annual ACM Awards were announced this morning (Sept. 9), and while many of the contenders are familiar faces, there are also a few first-timers and dark horses in the mix.

Brooks & Dunn, Vocal Duo of the Year
The veteran country duo is back in the running for Vocal Duo of the Year after a nine-year hiatus from the category. They’ll be up against Brothers Osborne, Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Line and LoCash for the prize.

Old Dominion, Single Record of the Year
The five-piece band is nominated for Single Record of the Year for their No. 1 hit “Hotel Key.” It’s a competitive category that also includes Keith Urban’s “Blue Ain’t Your Color,” Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant to Be,” Thomas Rhett’s “Marry Me” and Luke Combs’ “One Number Away.”

Devin Dawson, New Male Vocalist of the Year
Dawson is up for New Male Vocalist of the Year alongside Brett Young, Chase Rice, Luke Combs and Michael Ray. The singer-songwriter released his debut album, Dark Horse, in January 2018.
