The 2008 BET Hip Hop Music Awards were held on October 18, 2008 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. The show was hosted by comedian Katt Williams.

The Good

While this year’s BET Hip Hop Music Awards lacked the star power of years past, it did have its moments. The show, which took place on October 23 at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre, was hosted by comedian Mike Epps and featured performances by Lil Wayne, T.I., Plies, Snoop Dogg, and others. The awards themselves were spread out among a number of different artists, with Lil Wayne taking home the most honors.

Great performances

The Good: Performing artists at the 2008 BET Hip Hop Music Awards put on a great show! The performances were exciting, the energy was high, and the overall production value was extremely impressive. Some of the standout moments included Lil Wayne’s dynamic performance of “Lollipop” featuring Static Major, T-Pain’s soulful rendition of “I’m So Hood”, and Beyonce’s show-stopping performance of “Put a Ring On It”. It was also great to see some of the newer artists like Plies and Flo Rida hold their own against more established performers. All in all, this year’s BET Hip Hop Music Awards left us very impressed.

Good energy

The show started off with good energy. Lil Wayne and T-Pain performed their new song “Got Money.” They had the house rocking. Also, Kanye West and Lil Wayne performed “Barry Bonds” and “Lollipop.” The energy was high and the crowd loved it.

Good overall atmosphere

The good news is that the atmosphere was really good overall. I mean, it wasn’t electric like last year’s show, but it was still fun. The hosts, Mike Epps and Regina Hall, were funny and kept the energy up. And, unlike last year, there were no major technical problems that I can remember.

The Bad

The BET Hip Hop Awards are supposed to be a celebration of the year’s best hip hop and R&B music. But this year’s awards show was marred by a number of problems, from technical difficulties to offensive jokes. Let’s take a look at the worst moments of the 2008 BET Hip Hop Awards.

Some technical difficulties

Some viewers watching the BET Hip-Hop Awards on Tuesday may have noticed some technical difficulties.

During a performance by rappers Lil Wayne, T.I. and Busta Rhymes, the sound suddenly cut out for a few seconds, resulting in an awkward moment of silence.

It’s unclear what caused the sound problems, but BET issued an apology on Twitter shortly after the show ended.

“We apologize for the technical difficulties that occurred during the live broadcast of the 2008 #HipHopAwards,” the network tweeted. “We will air a clean version of the show on October 25 at 8 p.m.”

BET also said it would be posting videos of all the performances on its website.

Some people were not dressed appropriately

Lil’ Kim wore a dress that barely covered her Privates and was falling out of the bottom. Nicki Minaj wore a short, tight, low-cut dress with long white gloves. Amber Rose was topless except for pasties over her breasts and had on a very small thong. She also carried around a whip.

Some of the music was not appropriate for a BET show

Some of the music was not appropriate for a BET show. It was too explicit and there was too much cursing. Performances by Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Plies, and Young Jeezy were all very well done but too raunchy for television.
