The album was certified quadruple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of over four million copies in the United States. In Canada, it opened at number two on the Canadian Albums Chart, with sales of 97,500 copies. The album was also successful in other international markets. In Australia, it debuted at number three on the ARIA Charts and was later certified double platinum by the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) for shipments of over 140,000 copies.

“Some Hearts” was nominated for Album of the Year and won Best Country Album at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards. “Jesus, Take the Wheel” won three Grammy Awards in 2006: Record of the Year, Best Female Country Vocal Performance, and Best Country Song. “Before He Cheats” won two Grammy Awards in 2007: Best Female Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song.”Jesus, Take the Wheel” also became Underwood’s first single to be certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), signifying sales of over ten million copies
