Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars is a Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and producer who has sold over 100 million singles worldwide. His hit songs “Just the Way You Are,” “Locked Out of Heaven” and “Uptown Funk” have brought him both commercial success and critical acclaim.

Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, and is of Puerto Rican and Filipino descent. He began his musical career as a member of the pop/R&B group the Smeezingtons, which also includedsongwriter Philip Lawrence. The Smeezingtons co-wrote and produced Mars’ first two solo albums, Doo-Wops & Hooligans (2010) and Unorthodox Jukebox (2012), which were both certified multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

In addition to his work with the Smeezingtons, Mars has also collaborated with such producers and songwriters as Jeff Bhasker, Emile Haynie, Mark Ronson and Paul Epworth. He has won four Grammy Awards, including Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “Just the Way You Are” and Record of the Year for “Uptown Funk.” In 2011, Mars was named Billboard’s Top Male Artist of the Year.

George Clinton

George Clinton is an American musician, widely considered one of the godfathers of funk. He was the mastermind behind Parliament-Funkadelic, a collective of rotating musicians that produced some of the most innovative and influential music of the 1970s. Though Clinton’s career has spanned five decades, he remains active as a performer and producer. If you’re a fan of Bruno Mars, chances are you’ll enjoy George Clinton’s music as well.

Parliament-Funkadelic

Formed in the late 1960s, Parliament-Funkadelic is a large collective of talented musicians led by the incomparable George Clinton. Bootsy Collins

Bootsy Collins is an American musician and singer-songwriter. He is best known as a bass guitarist with the James Brown band and Parliament-Funkadelic. He has also worked with numerous other artists, including Deee-Lite, George Clinton, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Wonder. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Collins began his musical career in the early 1970s, playing with Brown’s band. He went on to play with Parliament-Funkadelic throughout the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1990s, he collaborated with Deee-Lite on their album World Clique and also played on George Clinton’s solo albums Hey Man, Smell My Finger and Psychoactive Funkadelic Relic (The hearings). In the 2000s, he released several solo albums, including The One Giveth, The Two Taketh Away (2002), Play with Bootsy (2005), Christmas Is 4 Ever (2006), Tha Funk Capital of the World (2011), and Bootsy Collins’ Funk Unity Band: Live in Japan 2012.

Sly and the Family Stone

Sly and the Family Stone was an African American band that was most popular during the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band’s music mixed elements of soul, R&B, rock, and funk, and they are often credited as being one of the first bands to successfully blend those genres. The band’s leader, Sly Stone, was known for his eccentric stage persona and clothing, which helped to create a psychedelic image for the band.

Sly and the Family Stone was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, and they were ranked #60 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

He has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time.

Red Hot Chili Peppers

Red Hot Chili Peppers is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1983. The group’s musical style primarily consists of rock with an emphasis on funk, as well as elements from other genres such as punk rock and psychedelic rock. When performed live, their music incorporates elements of jam band due to the improvised nature of much of their performances.

The band’s debut album, The Red Hot Chili Peppers was released on August 10, 1984 on EMI America Records. The album failed to gain traction and received little critical or commercial attention. Their second album, Freaky Styley, was released on August 16, 1985 on Enigma Records.The album saw the introduction of new guitarist John Frusciante who replaced Jack Sherman. The album was met with mixed reviews but enjoyed moderate success, peaking at number sixty-six on Billboard 200.
