The Girl in the Trees: An Indie Rock Music Video

We all know the feeling of wanting to run away from our problems. In the new music video “The Girl in the Trees” by indie rock band Departure Kings, that’s exactly what the protagonist does. She hops on a bus to escape her small town and the repetitiveness of everyday life. The video was shot in a single take using a rotating camera, which gives it a unique feel.

The video’s description

The Girl in the Trees is an Indie rock music video by American band The Paper Kites. The video was released on March 3, 2016 and has since amassed over 9 million views on YouTube.

The video follows the life of a young girl living in a treehouse in the woods. The girl is shown to be a free spirit, spending her days climbing trees, playing in the stream, and singing to the birds. As she grows older, she gradually becomes more isolated from the outside world and her only company is her dog.

One day, she hears music coming from a nearby house and is drawn to it. She begins to watch the band rehearsing through the window and is soon captivated by their music. She begins to visit them regularly, but always keeps her distance and never reveals herself.

Eventually, the band members notice her watching them and invite her in. They strike up a friendship and she even begins to play with them during their rehearsals. However, tragedy strikes when the girl’s dog dies suddenly and she withdraws into herself once again.

The band members are shown struggling to connect with her, but they continue to play their music and eventually reach out to her one last time. The video ends with the girl finally coming out of her shell and joining the band on stage for a performance.

The Girl in the Trees is a heartwarming story about following your dreams and overcoming adversity. The Paper Kites have created an incredibly moving video that will stay with you long after you’ve watched it.

The video’s cast and crew

The Girl in the Trees: An Indie Rock Music Video was directed by James Lees and stars Sarah Ivy as the titular character. The video’s cast also includes Amy Walker, Claire Cafaro, and Joe Hixon. The crew for the project was small but efficient, with Lees serving as both the director and cinematographer. Ivy, Walker, and Cafaro all worked as production assistants on the project.

The making of the video

We decided to go with an indie rock sound for the song, and we wanted the video to have a feeling of nostalgia and innocence. The Girl in the Trees was shot over the course of two days in a small town in upstate New York.

The video’s concept

After coming up with the song “The Girl in the Trees,” we knew we wanted to create a music video that would capture the feeling of the song. We wanted it to be ethereal and dreamlike, with a bit of an edge. We came up with the concept of a girl who is stuck in a tree, longing to be free.

We decided to film the video in black and white to create a more nostalgic feeling. We also wanted to use stop motion animation to give the video an otherworldly quality. We spent many hours filming and editing the video, and we are very happy with the final result.

The video’s production

Video production is the process of creating video by capturing moving images (videography), and creating combinations and reductions of parts of this video in live production and post-production (video editing). In most cases the captured video will be combined with other video, audio, and graphics in order to create a finished piece that communicates a message or tells a story. The videographer captures raw footage with cameras, edits it into a finished project with computer software, and then delivers the completed video to an audience.

There are three stages to producing a video: pre-production, production, and post-production. Pre-production is the stage where the concept for the video is developed and the team is assembled. Production is the stage where the actual video is shot. Post-production is the stage where the footage is edited into a finished product.

The video’s post-production

After the shoot, our video editor put together a assembly edit for us to review. We loved it! After a few notes and changes, we had our final edit.

We still needed to add color correction, graphics, and sound design before we could call the video complete. Our colorist added some beautiful colors with a special touch to give the video an ethereal feeling. We added some subtle light leaks and lens flares in post-production to make the world seem a little dreamier.

For the sound design, we wanted to create a feeling of being in the forest. We used sound effects like bird chirps, leaves rustling in the wind, and distant thunder to create a sense of place. We also gave the audio mix some extra love and care to make sure all the instruments and voices had their own space in the mix.

After all of that was complete, we had our final music video!
