Introduction

Music and opera have always been associated with the highest forms of artistic expression and the StraneEvents: Music and Opera is no different. The brainchild of French conductor and composer Jean-Yves Ollivier, The Straner Events: Music and Opera is a one-of-a-kind performance that will be held in seven cities around the world over the course of two years.

The project was conceived as a way to bring together some of the most talented musicians and opera singers from different cultures in a series of musical events that would celebrate the power of music to transcend borders and bring people together.

The first event will take place in Paris on September 21, 2018 at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and will feature musicians from France, Italy, Germany, Russia, China, and Japan. The lineup for this event includes world-renowned opera singer Anna Netrebko, who will be performing with the Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia; cellist Yo-Yo Ma; violinist Midori; pianist Lang Lang; soprano Nadine Sierra; mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato; bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni; and baritone Matthias Goerne.

This unique event will then travel to New York, London, Berlin, Moscow, Tokyo, and Beijing before concluding in Paris in 2020.
